Apostolate of friendship and trust
You have to bring souls close to God with the appropriate word that awakens apostolic horizons, with your discreet advice that helps them to look at a problem in a Christian way, with a friendly conversation that shows them how to practise charity. In short, you will do this through what at times I have referred to as an apostolate of friendship and trust.
But you have to attract others above all by the integrity of your lives, with the affirmation – humble and daring at the same time – of living among your equals in an ordinary but consistent way, showing our faith in our deeds. This, with God’s help, will be the reason for our effectiveness.
The world
Do not be afraid of the world. We are of the world, but if we are united to God and live our spirit, nothing can harm us. At times our Christian conduct may seem strange to people who are far from God; you will need to have the courage, supported by divine omnipotence, to be faithful.
Burning coals
For my children, I pray for the fortitude of spirit which will enable them to carry their environment with them wherever they go. A child of God in his Work has to be like a burning coal and enkindle fire wherever one is or at least raise the spiritual temperature of those around one, drawing them to live an intensely Christian life.
