The witness of ordinary life

Since the very first day I have told you that God does not expect anything extraordinary or exceptional from us, and that he wants us to carry this blessed divine calling all over the world, inviting many others to follow it. But we must carry out our proselytism with simplicity, with the example of our own conduct. We must make it clear that many people, if not all, can, with the grace of God, transform their ordinary daily life into a divine pathway, just as you have been able to make divine your own lives, which are also normal and ordinary.

Our way of acting should be imbued with naturalness. Thus the words from Sacred Scripture will hold true of us: There was a man in the land of Uz whose name was Job, and that man was blameless and upright, one who feared God and turned away from evil (Job 1:1). Since this crystalline simplicity which we must strive to have cannot be simple-mindedness (but without having any mysteries or secrets, since we do not and never will need them), keep in mind what we read in Sirach: Non communices homini indocto, ne mala de progenie tua loquatur;³ do not share your personal concerns with an ignorant man, lest he speak ill of your family.
