Freedom of opinion and pluralism in the Work

However, I insist that the Work will never form a group or school of its own in the field of knowledge: my sons and daughters will always have the same freedom as other faithful Catholics, with the same unconditional adherence to the doctrine of Jesus Christ, as proposed by the Church’s Magisterium. If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free (John 8:31-32).

Like other Catholics, their equals before the Church and the State, my children will also be able to undertake the highly recommendable task of setting up such groups or schools individually, in their personal capacity, always with the fullest respect for the freedom of their students and for the opinions of others, and with the necessary prudence in everything that in any way relates to faith or morals. I call it recommendable, because it is what people normally do; because setting up the kind of project that is so common in civil society will be another means of apostolate; because it will show the freedom we enjoy in the Work; and because it will be a way of contributing to the progress of the various fields of knowledge.
