Sincerity without reserve

We have to give ourselves once and for all, courageously and without holding anything back. We have to tell our Lord, Ecce ego quia vocasti me! (1 Sam 3:6), here I am, for you called me. We have to burn our boats, so that there may be no possibility of retreat, and that possibility will remain as long as there are hidden corners in our souls. It would be so sad to lose our way almost without having any particular reason for it, perhaps because we did not speak until it seemed that the situation had no solution. If we speak from the very first moment, everything can be remedied very easily.

During peaceful periods in the spiritual life – periods of good divinisation – do what civil engineers do. They build a reservoir to store the good clean water flooding down from the mountains, so that in times of drought there is still plenty of water for drinking, for irrigation, and for generating electricity: power and light. Now, while you have abundant light and your heart is filled with the desire to be faithful, make the firm resolution to turn to that light, invoking the help of our Mother Mary, if some day our Lord allows you to think you are surrounded by darkness.
