Rectify a little each day

So we need to be constant, joyful, while correcting ourselves a little each day, like ships on the high seas in order to reach port. The saints were like us. They had good will and the sincerity to rectify in their interior life and in their struggle: with victories, and with defeats, that sometimes are victories. They sought intimacy with God, which is hope, which is faith, which is Love. Our God is happy with this struggle of ours, which is a sure sign that we have interior life and a desire for Christian perfection.

Possumus

Remember when John and James went to Jesus, and said to him, “Teacher, we want you to do for us whatever we ask of you.” And he said to them, “What do you want me to do for you?” And they said to him, “Grant us to sit, one at your right hand and one at your left, in your glory.” Jesus said to them, “You do not know what you are asking. Are you able to drink the cup that I drink, or to be baptized with the baptism with which I am baptized?” And they said to him, “Possumus”, “We are able” (Mark 10:35-39). The path to Glory passes through the narrows of death. Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life (Rom 6:3-4).

My children, with John and James, let us say, Possumus! Omnia possum in eo qui me confortat (Phil 4:13), I can do all things through him who strengthens me. Be filled with confidence, because he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion (Phil 1:6). We will be able to do all things, if we cooperate with God, since we are assured of his strength: quia tu es, Deus, fortitudo mea (Ps 43[42]:2), for you, O God, are my strength.
