The seedbed of vocations for the Work.
The St Raphael work is the seed-bed of Opus Dei. It is the ordinary means on which God’s grace relies to prepare future vocations. To neglect it would be to tempt God, to oblige him to grant extraordinary graces.
It is natural that this would be so. The young people are at an age when they are already mature enough to be fully conscious of what the Christian life entails – without leaving their normal place in the world. And the spiritual and human formation they receive is sufficient to enable them to accept the divine call to the Work and to be, from the moment they ask for the Admission, effective instruments under their Directors’ guidance.
Union of St Raphael’s people with Opus Dei
There is of course a very close bond between the St Raphael people and the Work. In practice, they form part of the supernatural family of Opus Dei. They willingly want to receive its warmth, to acquire at least its basic spirit, and to cooperate with the members of the Work in their spiritual enterprise.
