Overcoming frivolity

It is our responsibility to keep people from being stuck in the idiocy of frivolity, an idiocy which is useless and always dangerous. We must make young people in every age develop their capacity to face the world’s problems, with a way of speaking that reflects moral values, and is not threatening but rather has a vital strength that will pull people along, that will put into motion a generation whose energies are yet to be channelled.

Supernatural meaning

Our objective is that there be on the lips of our young people that tremendous supernatural word that moves, that incites to action, that expresses a vitally committed attitude. It is never the grotesque and deadening repetition of words and phrases, something that cannot come from God.

International meetings and courses

In the midst of this world-wide cataclysm, with so much hatred and destruction, I tell you once again that we have been called to be sowers of peace and joy. If you pray and work with faith and perseverance, in a very short space of time we will (with the help of the St Raphael fellows) organise meetings and international gatherings with young people from many countries. We will also be present in undertakings organised by international organisations.

Cultural activities

In our residences, or in other activities of the St Raphael work, we can organise special courses and cultural activities, particularly during the holidays. Sometimes this will also be a discreet way of providing a special period of formation for the members of the Work. And it will always be an opportunity to carry out an interesting work, namely, the apostolate with foreign students I mentioned earlier.

That way we will be helping in an effective way to create a climate of mutual understanding, of getting on with one another, with a broad and universal outlook. We will overcome all forms of hatred and rancour through charity: without any class struggle, without any nationalism, without discrimination of any kind. Dream, and your dreams will fall short.
