Effectiveness of the work of St Raphael

From what I have been saying you can see that this St Raphael work is very necessary and merits any sacrifice. And so, with great naturalness we have to approach all young people, through other companions who are already well disposed towards the work. We have to help the young people understand us, because, unfortunately, there are many people bent on spreading among youth what we could describe as “the illness of human hostility”. It is not true that man is moved only by economic factors, which is what they are putting into the hearts of young people nowadays, along with propaganda that destroys their morals.

Ideals we propose: the need to be clean and prepared instruments.

In the St Raphael work we have to teach young people that they must fight a great battle against poverty, against ignorance, against sickness and against suffering. This battle is carried out in broad daylight, because we have no need to operate in the shadows of the night.

Then will be the moment to whisper, in the ears of each one, that it is true that you can carry out a surgical operation with a dirty and rusty scalpel, but that it will be very difficult for it to be successful. Accordingly, they, who like us are God’s instrument, should try to be clean, shining, and pure. They have to have the science of a surgeon, a surgeon of souls: the doctrine of Jesus Christ and the practice of piety, which will keep them free from certain kinds of impoverishment.
