The work is never in vain

If they go away, it means that they are not ready, at least for the time being, to work with the spirit of sacrifice that a genuine Christian lifestyle requires. Or it means that Our Lord wants them somewhere else. In any event, it will always have done them some good, and you can be certain that you have not been working in vain: knowing that in the Lord your labour is not in vain (1 Cor 15:58).

Vocations for St Gabriel’s work

Moreover, the St Raphael work should provide many vocations for the St Gabriel work, along with many collaborators and friends. There are always worthy young people, who are held in high esteem by their colleagues, who understand and love the Work, and who are not called by God or who don’t have all the necessary qualities to become Numeraries.

There can also be specific circumstances which make it clear that it is our Lord’s will that they follow another way. And so, in order to help them effectively, it is very important to get to know them well, through our personal apostolate of friendship and trust, and give each individual as much time as he or she requires. And not infrequently, when the time comes to speak to them about vocation, it will be best to direct them towards the St Gabriel work.
