Personal spiritual direction

In this way, helped by personal spiritual guidance with a priest friend of the Work (sought voluntarily) and by individual conversations with a member of the Work, they are put on a path toward the practice of interior life.

Perseverance: they cannot be abandoned

It is necessary, therefore, not to abandon them. What started out so well and with such good will should be finished well. We cannot abandon them just because we see that they don’t have a vocation. If we did, it could do a lot of harm to the individuals concerned and to the St Raphael work in general.

They would feel resentful and bitter; they would speak badly about us, and rightly so. They would poison the atmosphere and make things difficult for others, whom they would warn against the Work. We need to have a lot of supernatural vision and a great sense of responsibility, to give them as much or more attention as before and keep them in contact with the St Raphael work.
