My children, this is not gossip nor have I been exaggerating. I have related a part of what I have seen, because it seemed necessary for me to do so, in order to avoid the scandal of those who are not scandalized by people who use Christianity or Catholicism as an official tool for their undertakings and ambitions.

Serving

But let us leave them and think slowly about what is at the heart of our professional work. I will tell you that we have only one intention: to serve. In today’s world, the importance of the social mission of all the professions is clearly seen: even charity, even teaching have become social.

Supernaturalising our work

For every kind of service to one’s neighbour, there is a technique which the State tries to control. For this reason, all of us, God’s children in his Work, must supernaturalise the carrying out of our work or occupation, by truly serving our neighbour, our country, and God, with a supernatural sense. If you are going to serve the Church – or rather churchmen – directly, then serve her without payment, for there are many lay people who will not work for the Church unless they are paid. This is the instruction I give you, the one we have received from God: do not charge when you serve the Church. Pay, pay, pay, even if you give your whole life.
