Rectitude of intention

This is a good place to remind you of a heroic manifestation of upright intention and true humility in God’s service that should always be lived in the Work. I am referring to the willingness of all my children to abandon the most flourishing personal work – it could even be a political enterprise – in order to dedicate themselves to other professional tasks that are externally less brilliant, if the good of the apostolate requires it and those who have authority in the Work so decide.

Detachment

This constant willingness is a very obvious sign of detachment; it is all the same whether we work here or work there, as long as our work is a service to God and to all souls. With this spirit, my children learn to please God in everything they do and are not infected by a disordered craving for power and by personal ambition.

Respecting the opinions of others

They will able to give in, to respect the legitimate opinion of others, to act with the style of God’s children in the Work in everything and specifically in public life. Hence they will never forget that their mission is to serve without expecting gratitude or honour from men, having only the desire to please Jesus, cui servire regnare est. They will undoubtedly be more effective, and above all they will sanctify themselves in all their personal activities, which, with God’s grace, they will have converted into instruments of sanctification and an apostolate with a very wide range of action.
