Apostolate ad fidem

We must accompany everyone, if necessary, up to the very gates of hell: not through them, because there you cannot love Jesus Christ. We will attract them with our loyal friendship, and we will receive even the most distant of them into our own houses. Consequently, part of our beloved apostolate ad fidem (which, I am sure, will eventually be officially sanctioned) will be to allow our non-Catholic friends to attend acts of worship in our oratories. In so doing, however, we will not make it too easy for them, and they themselves will have to want it, so as to emphasize the personal freedom which is a main characteristic of our apostolates.

In order to facilitate this work, it is more in keeping with our spirit not to give our Centres or our houses names that could have an aggressive or military meaning, of victory or glory: Deo omnis gloria! All the glory to God! Although I respect that others think and act differently, always remember that God’s children in his Work do not need violence. We feel protected by divine Providence, and we can say, after having experienced it so many times: in umbra manus suae protexit me (Is 49:2), in the shadow of his hand the Lord sheltered me.
