Many are disconcerted when they hear of service
In today’s world, however, with its intrigues and rumpuses – with all that falsehood I mentioned above – many people become scared when they hear talk of service. They are full of pride, and so they do not consider that in this world we all serve one another. There is no one on earth who, in some way, does not have to serve others, because we depend on those who live in our country, those who are near us and those who are far away, and even those who live in other nations, everyone.
Everyone serves, whether they like it or not
We serve others, whether we like it or not, and we should do so gladly, with the joy the Lord has placed in our spirit: servite Domino in laetitia (Ps 100[99]:2), serve the Lord joyfully.
