Bad anti-clericalism

We have, then, to be anticlerical, with an anticlericalism which makes us love the Church more, and which is good, because there are other anticlericalisms that are bad.

One these is of a violent nature and, suadente diabolo,² out of hatred for God, leads to the destruction of everything relating to religion and the priesthood by means of savage tortures. There is another type of anticlericalism, also bad, which, perhaps without reaching the point of violence, ignores or despises the things of God. And a third, which is born of seeing clerics and laity using the Church to further purely temporal aims.

Our anti-clericalism is love for the Church

And finally our own, which I am sure pleases the Lord, because it leads us to desire, for the Church and for her ministers, a holy freedom from temporal bonds; because it makes us instinctively abhor all kinds of abuse or pettiness that use the Cross of Christ for personal profit, or turn the divine vocation, which the Lord gives to serve, into a slot machine which seeks only convenience or its own gain.
