We make a living from our job, not from the apostolate

You live by your work, you have to earn enough to keep yourselves and to support the Work financially in its apostolic enterprises. And the apostolate is not something added on to your profession, as if it were a distinct profession. Our cooperation in the work of souls, then, is extraordinarily beneficial to the Church financially: it is completely free.

And in this, too, you are distinguished from other laypeople who dedicate all or part of their activity to a specific apostolate, and obtain from it all or at least part of their upkeep, which represents a burden for the diocese or for the Holy See.

Help for the corporate apostolates

Opus Dei and its sons and daughters do not need money, because each one of them works at his or her own profession and they earn more than enough to support themselves. But when it comes to our corporate works, the more we are helped, the better we will be able to serve souls.
