The Church loves this characteristic of our spirit
Nevertheless, have no fear that the Church would trample on this characteristic of our spirit. It is clear to you that, in general, the Ordinaries of the dioceses where we work understand us and like us. And, whatever juridical form the Work will take in time, the Church, who is our Mother, will respect the way her children are, because she knows that all we want to do is to try to serve her and to please God.
Loving Mother Church
This is why we do not allow ourselves to harbour the least doubt or suspicion regarding the Church. Nor do we tolerate it in others, without protest. We do not seek out the vulnerable points of the Church, brought about in Her by men’s actions, so as to level criticism at her, as some do who appear to have neither faith nor love. I cannot conceive how anyone can love their mother and speak about this mother so coldly.
We will never be sufficiently satisfied with our work, no matter how much service we render, by God’s grace, to the Church and the Pope; for love will demand more of us every day, and our works will always seem modest to us, since the time that we have is short: tempus breve est (1 Cor 7:29).
