Continuity of the work
It is appropriate that, in similar conditions, the majority of those who belong to the Work should be saved, so they can continue carrying out their activity as apostles, even during a very severe persecution, helping priests in hiding, and enabling the faithful to receive the Sacrament of Penance, and, as some of you did, distributing Holy Communion, and comforting Catholics.
It would be a good idea to apply the procedure followed by civil authorities, or some of their more efficient institutions: without giving the impression of secrecy, which in our case does not exist, they avoid making unnecessary details public. It is consoling to think of the Christian work which my children, not officially known to be members of the Work, are able to carry out. And, for most of them, this can be achieved without any mystery or secrecy – which we do not need.
