They do not hide their membership of the Work

And I use the term officially, because in fact – this is another proof that in the Work there is no secret of any kind – the vast majority of you are known to be members of Opus Dei by your families, friends and colleagues, who detect the Christi bonus odor6 of your lives. But it would be absurd to advertise your vocation officially and publicly; everyone could then point you out with their finger.

Our dedication is private and personal

Among other things, because our way, as ordinary Christians, is absolutely alien to such publicity, and I always say to those who ask me if some of you are in the Work, and whether you are able to say that you are: They are completely free to do so, if they think it is appropriate. But, if it is not necessary, there is no need to make it known, because this is a personal and private affair of conscience.
