Hurt by the misunderstanding of good people

Besides, it is sad that this way of treating those who wish to be faithful finds credence among people who should know better. It is painful to see this for two reasons: because by attending to and giving credit to these frauds, the injustice and unfairness committed is overlooked; and because the poor souls who are the targets of such manipulations often have no means of defending themselves or of demonstrating the truth: most of the calumnies are anonymous, and there is no right of recourse.

Injustices

Very often these poor people find themselves covered by a pile of rubbish, ex informata conscientia, which is said to come “from good authority”, and unfortunately the conscience, which accepts holy things, is sometimes elastic and is filled also with decidedly bad things.

Judging without hearing the accused

One cannot judge just by listening to what is said without hearing the accused, because if we were to forget this elementary rule of prudence, no one would be left standing in the Church of God. In this way these accusers would not be friends of God, who has said: vos amici mei estis, si feceritis quae ego praecipio vobis (John 15:14); you are my friends if you carry out what I command you, if you act uprightly.
