No obstacles

Those who are brothers and sisters in Jesus Christ and work for the one Lord – although in different tasks: fuit... Abel pastor... et Cain agricola⁷ (Gen 4:2) – cannot be obstacles for one another. The apostolic task has no limits and all hands are few to do the work: there is ample work for all.

No envy

Anyone who through envy, jealousy or tyranny, becomes an obstacle for the apostolate of their brethren, could not be excused from the application of that harsh reproach from Scripture: By this it is evident who are the children of God, and who are the children of the devil: whoever does not practise righteousness is not of God, nor is the one who does not love his brother. For this is the message that you have heard from the beginning, that we should love one another. We should not be like Cain, who was of the evil one and murdered his brother. And why did he murder him? Because his own deeds were evil and his brother's righteous (1John 3:10-12).

God’s preferences

It is not of great consequence that the Lord, who is Father, should show preferences for one or other of his children: although they are different, he is attentive to them all. To each one he gives what is appropriate, for the person and for the usefulness of the family and of the work as a whole.

The fault would lie in the lack of refinement of that child who does not accept or is not content with his lot, and in the mistake of envying others. It could lead him to fall into the temptation of separating himself and distancing himself from his brother if he could, as did the brothers of Joseph (see Gen 37).
