Clericalism has a disdain for the law; it leads to tyranny

Clericalism is usually accompanied by a contempt for the law – which seems to exist only for one’s neighbour – because the law imposes a service which one is unwilling to perform. Clericalism does not possess the spirit of Christ. A clerical person – in the bad sense of the word – abuses his authority to get others serve him; he treats souls tyrannically, as if they were his flock of goats and, taking them by the horns, says: these are mine, thus trampling on the holy freedom of their consciences.

It harms the Church

A person who acts like this lacks the humility which gives meaning to all apostolic work and, instead of contributing with his life to extending Christ’s kingdom, harms the unity of the Church and pastoral work.
